Huawei is already testing Android P on the Mate 10 Pro: this is how it works

Has passed more than a month since Google offered us a first advance of Android P, the next big update of the operating system, which allows us to take a first look at all news that will arrive throughout this year to the most used mobile platform on the planet. Until today, however, only those who own a Pixel or Pixel 2 terminal can proceed with the installation of the first Developer Preview of Android P.

But there are brands that seem to have already started working on the new Android base, and Huawei is among the first. Thanks to XDA-Developers , we know that the brand is already testing a first edition of Android P in his last flagship of the past 2017, the Mate 10 Pro , and today we have had access to the images and information that verify it.

This is how Android P works on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Apparently, Huawei would have started the testing phase of Android P in the edition of the Mate 10 Pro aimed at the Chinese market. A leaked firmware, however, has allowed the XDA guys to install -suffering along the way, yes- this build in its Mate 10 Pro, and see what is hidden in the new edition of Android under the lens of EMUI.

As they point out, given that EMUI already incorporated some of the existing innovations in Android P, there are only a few exclusive tools of the latest version of Android that have appeared in this version. Some elements of the interface have also changed slightly , to adapt to the design lines that today we know as “Material Design 2”.

The first surprise is when we access the device settings, and see that, under the information section of the system, the 8.2 version of EMUI based on Android 9.0.0 , despite the fact that, according to the last numbering change carried out by Huawei, the final version should be EMUI 9.0

On the other hand, since XDA they have reached the conclusion that this would be a build of Android P more recent than the Developer Preview available today for the Pixel , since some options for existing developers in DP1 have already been removed. On the other hand, novelties such as the new gesture navigation iPhone X style discovered a few days ago , is not present, although it is possible that Huawei had decided to reject this option in favor of a solution of its own.

Either way, It is still early to speculate about the arrival of Android P to the Huawei Mate 10 Pro officially , above all because until August we will not see the final edition of this version of Android . Even so, we are happy to know that Huawei is already working with the base of Android 9.0, which, added to the support of Project Treble by its last terminals, should facilitate the work to bring the latest edition of the system to their ships most recent badge.
