What you do not know what Eurovision is ? Very easy: it is a television contest that is held every year in Europe since 1956. In the festival, different countries of Europe and the world face each other (each year they add new nominations) with the objective of choosing the best musical creation . Thus, after an arduous voting process in which fifty countries participate, a single song is chosen as the winner. More or less, it’s like the World Martial Arts Tournament of Dragon Ball but with Western countries and songs.
Does it sound strange to you? Well, because it’s one of the most watched television shows of the year , gaining more followers every year around the world.
To give you an idea of the size of the festival, last year’s edition brought together more than 5 million Spanish viewers and about 200 million in the rest of the world And that’s just the! To these figures we must add the audience of YouTube and other digital platforms, as well as all the impact it has on social networks globally. In fact it is estimated that it has a global impact of 600 million people .
This year, in the great final of Lisbon, a total of 26 countries : twenty qualifiers from the semifinals on Tuesday and Thursday, the so-called “Big Five” and the country that won the festival last year.
Thus, in today’s final they will compete:
Cyprus, Israel, Estonia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Finland, Austria, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Albania , all of them classified in the first semifinal.
Australia, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine, Moldova, Sweden and Hungary , all of them classified in the second semifinal.

Unfortunately they can only vote at the festival those people who are in one of the 43 participating countries . Broadly speaking, that includes only the European Union almost completely, some countries of the former Soviet Union (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Montenegro, Serbia, etc.) and the Caucasus (Israel and Azerbaijan) and, recently, Australia.
If that is your case, the mechanism for voting is the sea of simple: the main system consists of the voting by SMS or phone call . To this method has been added, for a few years, the voting through the official festival app (You have the download links just above). The voting period lasts approximately 20 minutes, just after the 26 performances. It will be about an hour and a half after the start of the festival, if you want to vote be aware!
You can vote up a maximum of 20 times , yes, you will not be able to vote for the same country from which you vote : that is, a Spaniard who is in Spain will never be able to vote for Spain.
As indicated in thethe televoting will mean 50% of the result, while the other 50% will be determined by the professional jury of each participating country. Below you can see a small video that explains the current performance of the vote in Eurovision.
And as well as Android fans we are also a little eurovisive, we are not afraid to say that we have opted for the Cyprus victory and for a very feasible top 10 of Spain thanks to the duo formed by Amaia and Alfred. In a few hours we will find out if luck has decided to smile at us. Enjoy the festival!
