Fallout 76 has only one beta test left, and Bethesda has issued a statement regarding some corrections that it already plans based on feedback from the testing. Some of the tweaks are more technical in nature, while others address unintentional bugs that can seriously affect the gaming experience. For other points, Bethesda explains why it does not intend to implement certain requests, at least not directly.
At the technical end, the company plans to support ultra-wide 21: 9 screens once after launch. It will not implement a field-of-view slider, but cites concerns about breaking animations and causing clipping. PC players are said to have requested a push-to-talk option for voice chat, and the studio said it would appear to add this feature. It also said that some common social menus and friends have already been raised and promised to fix different challenges with a future update.
For gameplay, Bethesda says it plans to increase the stash size. “The stash size at 400 weight limits can be easier to handle over time, but we plan to increase it in the future,” said it. Some beta players reported that the hunger field would never fill, and Bethesda says this has been fixed. Finally, the occurrence of random shots or other loud sounds near Appalachia will be handled shortly after launch.
These are the most prominent questions Bethesda chose to focus on, but the company has shown that it sees Fallout 76 as an ongoing project. In an open letter to the fans just before the beta launched, it suggested that this was only the beginning and everyone would need to help find the bugs and help them build the game.
Fallout 76 is certainly ambitious as the franchise’s first continuous persistent world, but we have some concerns about the feeling of emptiness it creates. When the full game is launched, we can see another picture appear. A factor that has already been changed during beta beta is the addition of the game store, which has a full inventory but does not allow purchase yet.
