A new beta version of WhatsApp for Android just landed on Google Play , and comes with interesting news for all users of a version higher than Android 5.0 Lollipop. As reported since WABetaInfo , the version corresponds to the number 2.18.117 of WhataApp, and is already available through the Application testing channel.
Apparently, this new edition of the most used messaging app on the planet, incorporates new high priority notifications for the first time. It is a function compatible with all the Android versions higher than 5.0 Lollipop -API 21-, and that will allow users to take greater control over the notifications of the application.
As you can see in the screenshot above, high priority notifications have appeared on WhatsApp as a new feature under the “Notifications” section. By default, it is enabled, and its operation consists of maintain a high priority for WhatsApp ads , so that they appear in the first position of the notification bar, over other lower priority messages.
In this way, every time we receive a WhatsApp message and high priority notifications are activated, the notification will be shown in the upper part of the panel , leaving in the lowest positions those notices of other applications considered less important. In case other apps also have this system enabled, high priority notifications will appear at the top of the notifications panel, ordered chronologically.
As usual, WhatsApp has implemented this function in the beta version of the application, before making the global deployment in the stable edition. If there are no operational errors related to this addition, all users of WhatsApp can enjoy high priority notifications throughout the coming weeks.
