Most women go through a healthy pregnancy with no issues to mention. Some women however have some health issues during pregnancy that need extra medical care.

Here are the most significant

Most women suffer constipation, back pains, frequent urination, indigestion, hemorrhoids or even nose bleeds. Some of the health issues during pregnancy are usually mild but sometimes they require medical attention, so it’s always a good idea to contact your physician whenever you have any of these problems.

Physical and emotional changes

  • Contrary to popular belief, these changes can indicate more serious problems during pregnancy; these changes include:
  • Extreme anxiety or depression from fear of any harm to you or your baby.
  • Pain or extreme cramps in the stomach or the back.
  • If the fetus is moving less than usual, especially in the latter stages.

Bladder and vagina

  • Whenever there is a bleed or discharge from the vagina or when there is a more-frequent-than-usual need to urinate or a burning sensation when you pee.

The head

  • If you feel intense or extended headaches.
  • Intense vertigo.
  • Altered vision like hazy vision or flashing lights.

Legs, toes, fingers, hands and skin

  • Extreme swelling in the face, hands or toes which can be quick and sudden.
  • Intense leg pain and swelling.
  • Intensely itchy skin, including hands and toes.

Other matters

  • Nausea and constant vomiting, and difficulty holding in food and drinks without vomiting.
  • Fever and chills.

If you have any of these problems and you were unable to contact your physician or your hospital on the phone, you should head to the nearest doctor or hospital.

It is very important to monitor your health during pregnancy and not neglect any indicators.
