A Hawaiian-based burger chain has closed a restaurant in Honolulu to clean up a video published on social media showing a rat cooked on the grill.

Teddy’s Bigger Burgers have closed the Mapunapuna site and fired two employees appearing in the Snapchat video.

“We are afraid that a former teenage employee would be in this way and make such a video as we investigate its authenticity,” said Richard Stula, President of Teddy’s Bigger Burgers. 1

9659003] The company initiated a “complete remediation” and replaced equipment and tools in the fast food restaurant after the video was shared with them several days ago, Stula said in the statement.

“We then send a company team to inspect and complete a thorough review of the site before it can be reopened,” said Stula.

The State Health Department plans to inspect the restaurant on Mapunapuna Street on Friday.

The company also contacts a licensed harmful to investigate the restaurant for rodents, “said Peter Oshiro, state environmental health program director.” DOH appreciates the remedies that the restaurant took to protect public health, “said Oshiro in a statement.

The restaurant received a suitable green sign after its last inspection in June.
