Google has to put it in a junk with this error. For some reason, a number of Pixel 3 XL phones have shown an additional virtual notch on the smartphone display. Fortunately, a fix is on its way.
Want an additional smartphone notch?
Probably not. However, a software flaw on the Google Pixel 3 XL adds an extra cut to the smartphone display, whether you like it or not.
Owners who have encountered the bug have said that it seems random with no obvious trigger. However, the error can easily be solved, either with reboot or by rotating the phone.
Fortunately, the error does not appear to be widespread. Google also told PCMag that a fix is on its way. But the company refrained from explaining what causes the bug in the first place. Users wonder if the problem has something to do with the phone’s auto-rotating feature and the software incorrectly displays the virtual note.
Whatever the case, the internet has been full of joke about the strange bug. “Introducing Pixel Ultra with 2 notes,” wrote a user on Reddit. “Download pixel 3 now and we will include extra notch for free”, wrote another.
Earlier this month, PCMag reviewed Pixel 3 XL, which we gave an “Excellent” Handset received high ratings for its speed, high performance camera and impressive OLED screen.
However, the phone has an uneven heel that contains the front cameras, speakers and sensors. The good news is that you can hide the existing note by blacking out the top of the display. You can do this by going to the phone’s development options for Android OS.
