Google makes it easier for people without accounts to collaborate in G Suite documents – TechCrunch

It will soon be easier for people without Google accounts to collaborate on G Suite documents. Currently in beta, a new feature allows G Suite users to invite people without G Suite subscriptions or Google Accounts to work with files by sending them a PIN. Using the Access PIN, allows bidders to view, comment, suggest changes to or directly edit Google Docs, Archives, and Slides. The owners and administrators of the G Suite files monitor usage through activity logs and can revoke access at any time. According to the feature's support article, administrators can set permissions by department or domain. They may also restrict sharing outside the whitelisted G Suite domains or their own organizations. In order to sign up for the beta program, companies must fill in this form and choose a non-G domain domain they plan to collaborate with often. According to a Reuters article published in February, Google has doubled the number of organizations with a G Suite subscription of more than 4 million, as they have an intensified focus on corporate customers.

According to the feature’s support article, administrators can set permissions by department or domain. They may also restrict sharing outside the whitelisted G Suite domains or their own organizations.

According to a Reuters article published in February, Google has doubled the number of organizations with a G Suite subscription of more than 4 million, as they have an intensified focus on corporate customers. However, despite Google’s efforts to build its business base, G Suite has not come close to replacing Office 365 as the cloud-based productivity software chosen for companies.

Office 365 amounted to $ 1

3.8 billion in revenue in 2016, compared to G $ 1.3 billion only for G Suite, according to Gartner. However, Google has added features in the G Suite to make the two competing software codes more interoperable, including an update that allows Google Drive users to comment on Office files, PDF files and images in the Drive preview panel without having to convert them to Google Docs, Sheets or Slide files first, even if they do not have Microsoft Office or Acrobat Reader. Before that, Google also released a Drive plugin for Outlook.

This may not convince Microsoft customers to switch, especially if they have used the software for decades, but at least it will make more workers comfortable with Google’s options and may convince some companies to subscribe to G Suite for at least some employees or departments .
