Earlier this month, a Google Assistant conversion, first announced at I / O 2018, rolled out on Android. Using Smart Displays signals, the assistant became more visual, touch-sensitive and gave quick access to the update. In the last 24 hours, a Google Assistant bug has caused this design to disappear for some users.

On several of our devices, including a Pixel 2 XL, the old Assistant interface has repeated the last day. When you hold down the home button, the higher assistant panel returns with a larger logo.

Request weather, searches and other results load the older, non-full-height card style, while the speech bubble style and different icons have also returned. Switching will no longer open the Google Assistant Updates tab but will no longer go to your search history.

This assistant design is based on “almost half of all interactions with the assistant including [ing] both voice and touch.” It has large controls and controls for changing the volume and controlling smart household appliances like thermostats. Inspired by Google’s home theater, we focus on adding large cover images and bold text to cards, as well as more stylish buttons in line with the company’s latest look. &#8221
