After a first period, the mother received one of the suspects a message from the school that her daughter had not shown for the second period. Her mother called the school and said her daughter had been dropped that morning, according to the police.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Bartow Police Department said Chief Joe Hall, after receiving that call, led Christopher Roberts organized school staff and law enforcement to seek school.
Hall said Chandra Johnson, a deputy principal at school, found the girls in a bathroom in the building another student said she warned to avoid. Johnson also saw that the girls had a cup that she suspected of containing alcohol in it.
Roberts asked school resources Officer Alexander Guzman tested the cup for alcohol, said the authorities.
Hall said the girls were taken to Roberts & # 39; office, and one was asked to empty their pockets. When she did, the school staff found a pair of knives and a sharpener, Hall said.
The staff asked the girl why she had a weapon, and she said that she and the other girl plotted to attack and kill as many students as they could, Hall said.
The police then searched the girls and found several more knives, including a slaughter knife, said Hall.
Both girls told detectives they had plotted to kill at least 1
5 people and had hid in the bathroom to wait for smaller students to overcome them to be their victims, the police said.
Hall said he did not talk to the girls’ parents.
The detectives said that during a search of one of the girls’ phones, a message was found that the girls planned to “leave body parts at the entrance” and kill themselves.
Bartow Police Department detectives are investigating the incident with the Polk County School Board.
