All signs point to temple coach Geoff Collins as a leading candidate to succeed with Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson, according to several media reports and a person familiar with the coaching search. That person also said that Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott is also another candidate.
Collins was reported to have met Tech officials on Thursday in Atlanta by Yahoo author Pete Thamel in a tweet and allowed an agreement to happen this evening. According to Philly.com, Collins and Tech encountered athletic director Todd Stansbury in New York on Wednesday and in Georgia on Thursday.
Further, Los Whisting’s offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt has withdrawn his name from consideration, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network. Whisenhunt was reported to have met sports director Todd Stansbury earlier this week.
