Game of Thrones finals, how to run and what to know

The series finals The Thrones game is finally on us. After eight seasons and nearly 72 hours of epic story, HBO's fantasy series ends, ending the story that began almost a decade ago. Who will live and who will die? Jon Snow, Daenery's Targaryen and Stark siblings are around to complicate the drama. Although this is not the end for Ice of Fire and Fire – we have two books and at least one spinoff series on the horizon – that's the culmination of a massive cultural event and perhaps the last water cooler show we will ever watch . Season 8 has been a wild, if inconsistent, ride, turns from lush landscapes to incomprehensible combat scenes and from gripping connections to shocking supplies (of both characters and showrunners). We are in the playoffs now, and pesky things like logic and character growth have mostly been thrown out of the window to deepen plot points and drive through forest struggles. Who will live and who will die? Jon Snow, Daenery’s Targaryen and Stark siblings are around to complicate the drama.

Although this is not the end for Ice of Fire and Fire – we have two books and at least one spinoff series on the horizon – that’s the culmination of a massive cultural event and perhaps the last water cooler show we will ever watch .

Here’s what you need to know to enter this last episode.

The first moments in Thrones last season’s mirror

Helen Sloan / HBO

The premiere of the series: The Starks is preparing to receive a royal caravan, worried about what’s coming to be asked by them.

Tensions between Daenery’s and Sansa are palpable as soon as they meet. While Daenery’s shows his strength in the north, Sansa and Arya are concerned about the dragon queen’s position over his brother, Jon Snow.

Only he is not their brother. After years of theorizing, Game of Thrones finally confirmed Jon’s parenting last season. He is not a bastard – he is the son of Ned Stark’s sister, Lyanna and Daenery’s brother Rhaegar, who is married in a secret ceremony before Jon was born. Sam lets Jon into the secret at the end of Section 1, “Winterfell” and Jon tells Dany in Section 2, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”.

The night king surrounded by dragonfire -

HBO

This revelation is a bombshell, but before the consequences can be counted, the dead army attacks in Section 3, “The Long Night”. It is a brutal attack, but when all hope seems lost, Arya appears from nowhere to murder the night king.

The rear half of season 8 is about the fallout from Jon’s revelation. Daenery’s asking him not to tell anyone, but of course he does. Soon the information spread from Sansa to Tyrion to Varys. The spider begins to consider betraying its queen, which he worries about is too fleeting for the throne.

In the midst of this inner turbulence, Euron Greyjy’s fleet cuts off the forces returning to Dragonstone in section 4, “The Last of the Starks”. Qyburn’s scorpion takes out a wounded Rhaegal and leaves Daenery’s with a remaining dragon. And Missandei, her closest advisor and friend, is caught during the attack. She is later killed by the mountain under a parlay.

In the next episode and one of the show’s most controversial, a betrayal and sad Daenerys decides to steer with fear because she has lost all she loves. She orders Drogon to go to King’s Landing, even after the capital’s recall. Jaime and Cersei are killed in the assault, along with most of the Lannister army and a large population of civilians.

What else do I need to remember?

Games of Thrones is a dense show, packed with lore and subtext and random celebrity cameos. Throughout the season, we have gone through history, answered questions and breaking down theories of the last six episodes in this epic tale. Here are some of the most important themes that still remain on the board.

Thrones game season 8 episode 3 The Bells Daenerys Targaryen the Mad Queen

HBO

The Mad Queen

Daenery’s evolution from exiled orphan married off in exchange for political favors that Mad Queen burns a city to the ground is a long, complicated road. Many fans became frustrated by what seemed like an unprocessed health turnaround during the Battle of King’s Landing, but the Thrones game has set this stage for several years. Whether the showrunners did justice to their bow, which is known with feelings about women and power and “madness”, is obviously up for interpretation. (19459003] Thrones game really has no good points when it comes to showing women’s growth.

Helen Sloan / HBO

Jon Snow’s glory

While Ned Stark is not actually ion’s snow father, the Norwegians in the north Jon studied at a man’s feet, whose relentless devotion to honor and truth literally got him killed. That commitment is complicated by Ned lying to Jon about his identity for his entire life, albeit for good reason. Indicates Jon’s constant quote by the strong patriarch that he took the same lessons in the heart. It will certainly affect how Jon thinks that Daenery’s only massacre a whole city.

Helen Sloan / HBO

Arya and the Green Eyes

Thrones game ] Stannis belief that he was the prince who was promised informed his military elections Cersei paranoia about her child’s predicted deaths got her close all others out.

However, Arya Stark has never put much of Melissander’s prediction that she would permanently close “brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes”. As a skilled killer, Arya has closed many a brown eye. And the night-king’s blue eyes also closed permanently in the hands of the young Starken. But what about the green eyes? Most adopted the green eyes that were referred to Cersei, but when Arya had the chance to kill the Lannister Queen, she ran away. However, there is another powerful blonde queen with green eyes in Westeros – one that has very recently moved to the top of Arya’s list.

What to Expect in the Thrones Final

Despite Daenery’s insistence that she didn’t do it I don’t want to be “Queen of the Ash”, that’s exactly what the 6 teaser episode annoys. The preview is even shorter on details than usual, with Tyrion and Arya slowly stepping on the cruel streets of King’s Landing. Shot of Daenery’s remaining loyal armies, Dothraki and Unsullied, once an inspirational sight, now struck us with an overwhelming sense of fear.

What is more remarkable here is what we do not see – Jon Snow is missing from the trailer, as well as Sansa and Bran. Most importantly, we never see Dany’s face. Will she lean into the Mad Queen title and really steer with fear? And will anyone be able to stop her?
