In Fortnitemares v6.20 update, Epic enabled slides redistribution in all Fortnite game modes, which means players can pull their swings anytime as long as they were three units or higher. What is meant to be a weekly test has been extended to two, with players both mating over and celebrating the massive buffer for mobility.

But today, Epic stated that it rolls back the change of slider conversion in tomorrow’s v6.30 update, limiting it to major team games where it was first thought. This is not necessarily the last time we will be able to redistribute glider in standard solos, duos or squads. Epic says lack of communication and speed to ease the gas, “We do not live up to expectations to quickly iterate the mechanic and communicate plans.”

Fair enough. I’m a big fan of sliding relocation myself. We can talk balance all day, but it’s about moving around the big map fundamentally more entertaining, and I think Epic keeps that in mind. But I see how such a fast and big change interferes with existing game styles too violently. As soon as Epic has become iterating on Fortnite, it needed to react even faster to exploitative or frustrating game styles that came out of the ability to slide in or out of fighting for will, and it did not. I am confident that relocation of slides may work when things or abilities are introduced to make each step a more risky proposal, but at least I can fly around Disco Domination all I like, dreaming of a better world.
