You see restrictive diets or diets that require you to eliminate foods or nutritional groups – may have negative effects on your brain.
Here are three I often see in my work with clients.

Tell someone that they can not have peanut butter on their diet (ahem, Paleo) and they are more likely to require peanut butter. Tell them that they can only eat some measured carbohydrates daily (ahem, keto) and suddenly every deep-fried pizza looks okay l-o pasta and bread bread are even more delicious.
“It’s an intrinsic behavior in humans,” said Brierley Horton, a registered dietician in Birmingham, AL. “It’s like the child who is told that they can not make or touch anything and that’s all they want to do and usually stop doing it. Tell me I can not eat carbohydrates and suddenly I see carbohydrates everywhere and that’s all I think on. “
Some people will tell you to demand the way your body tells you when you need nutrients. These people are wrong. No clinical research has ever shown that this old nutrition box is true.
“The need is not based on nutritional needs, it’s because of depriving yourself,” says Horton.
Take carbohydrates again. Carbohydrates give your brain glucose, a fuel that it needs to do everything from basic to complex tasks. About a decade ago, when low-carb diets began to become more popular, researchers studied the effects of a lack of carbohydrates on the moods of dieters. Surely, the study participants who consumed the few carbohydrates reported a poorer mood than those who ate a diet that included carbohydrates.
