Fastest growing and shrinking county in America

The Census Bureau recently released its annual estimates of how populations in each of the 1342 counties and county equivalents in the United States changed during the year between July 1, 2017 and July 1, 2018. The above map shows the percentage change in population over that year in each county, with counties in blue with growing populations and counties in red see reductions during the year. Some of the big winners are large metropolitan areas in the south and west. The rings in the counties around Texas major cities Houston, Dallas and San Antonio appear in dark blue, and most of Florida's counties saw strong growth during the year.
