We knew already in 2019 would bring a new “core” Pokemon RPG for the Nintendo Switch, but until last week we knew almost nothing about it. Pokemon Day brought with it a special Nintendo Direct focused on the franchise, and it revealed that Nintendo as usual will release the new game in two different versions: Pokemon Sword and Shield. These games represent the eighth generation of Pokemon games, and the revealing trailer showed many of the new components they will present: the Galar region, which seems to be inspired by England; Gen 8 starts; your coach and a number of returning Pokemon.
New Pokemon is among the highlights of a new generation, but so far it is the three entrees that have been revealed. But you never know with a new Pokemon game which old Pokemon can designate, so we have rounded out all Pokemon from the sword and shield trailer below. Many of Pokemon are from later games, including Sun and Moon, while some are older. every previous Pokemon generation is represented here. Almost all of them were shown in battle.
It is worth noting that the trailer seems to show the return of Pokemon’s traditional flair in wild Pokemon meetings, as opposed to Pokemon Go-inspired capture mechanics seen in Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. We didn’t see Pokemon in the world, as in Let’s Go, or even follow you around. You can capture what we know with our compilation of the most important tags about swords and shields.
