The influenza vaccine is given in three locations in El Paso by the local department of public health.
Officials with the department celebrate the national influenza vaccination week by educating the public about why influenza vaccination is important.
They said that seniors, pregnant women and adults with underlying medical conditions are included in the high risk group in terms of flu.
CDC recommends that all six months and older be vaccinated annually against the flu. During the influenza season 2017-2018, they estimate the flu:
49 million flu disease more than the combined populations in Texas and Florida
960,000 influenza episodes more than the number of manned hospital beds in the United States
79,000 deaths more than the average number of people who participating in the Super Bowl every year
