One of the most interesting things about the Legend of Zelda series is to figure out how each game fits into the chronological timeline of the universe. With the Breath of the Wild, however, that discussion has become a little more complicated.
In the series Zelda Legend: Breath of the Wild – Creating a master via Nintendo Insider, the series producer Eiji Aonuma said essentially that they have no plans to give a definite answer to how the game fits the timeline like they did with the other entries in the Zelda Encyclopedia. The main reason is that it is a pretty tricky thing to do first and foremost, Aonuma thought it would be more fun for imaginative players to bring their own answers instead.
“We realized that people were enjoying imagining the story of the fragmentary image we provided. If we defined a limited timeline, there would be a definitive story, and it would eliminate the space for fantasy, which would not be so fun.
“We want players to continue having fun imagining this world even after they’re done with the game so this time we decided to that we would avoid making clarifications. I hope everyone can find their own answer, on their own. “”
Here you have it. While you decide that the exact position of the game in the timeline is not exactly necessary for your own enjoyment of the game itself, it is still fun to speculate and theoretize about it.
Still, it’s nice to finally have the discussion to rest, and for Nintendo to leave it to the most dedicated fans to bring their own stories to Breath of the Wild.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now available for Nintendo Switch and Wii U. [1
