In a new interview, evangelist Franklin Graham explained why he supported Donald Trump, the president called a defender of the Christian faith.
In an appearance of Axios on HBO Graham made the reasons behind his support for Trump despite the “sordid” life he has lived. As noted in a summary of the interview, this may have been a reference to the several allegations of sexual misconduct and immortal affairs that the president has faced since taking office.
“I never said that he was the best example of the Christian faith. He defends faith.” And I appreciate it very much, Graham said.
Graham continued to defend Trump as the interview continued and told Axios that he still supports the president despite the above allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior and his general treatment of women.
This is not the first time Franklin Graham has spoken to defending Donald Trump in the light of his alleged affairs with other women or other similar claims. In an interview with CNN’s Don-Lemon in January, Graham referred to the president as an “altered person” and stressed that his alleged affair with adult movie actress Stormy Daniels “did not happen when he was in place. “
Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, also doubts Donald Trump’s comments about some African nations,” Thai countries “during his interview with lemon.
” There [are] many presidents like have had a rough language and many of these things have been blamed by the president, I’m not sure to be true. He says he did not. And the others who said he did not. “
As noted by Newsweek Graham’s comments about Trump as” defender “of the Christian faith did not come without precedent, which he announced in July that he sold a series of T-shirts as a result of The “IMPEACH 45” shirts worn by Walmart, this time showing support to the president with the slogan “PRAY FOR 45.” The publication also quoted a previous report from Washington Post who explained how white gospels tend to support Trump because of their similar conservative views on issues such as climate change and immigration.
