SAN ANTONIO – Jakob Poeltl and Davis Bertans went from court to big bowl embracing San Antonio Spurs veterans Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge.
In a game filled with All Stars like Aldridge, DeMar DeRozan and LeBron James, Spursna relied on a rough effort from Poeltl, Bertans and their bench to save a victory.
DeRozan finished 36 points and nine assisted and Spurs had eight players in double numbers in a 133-120 comma from
James finished with 35 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds for Los Angeles, but held four points and none rebounds in the fourth quarter. James bristled when told Bertans and Poeltl were not players expected to beat the Lakers.
“Why not,” James said. “Why did not you think they could hit you? They are NBA players. They made big shots. Bertans scored big shots. He scored four 3s in the fourth quarter.”
Spurs young entries combined to score 23 points in the last quarter, with Poeltl finished with 1
4 and Bertans 13.
“We really clicked on our second unit,” Poeltl said. “We had so much fun together out there. I certainly found my spots there.”

The Spurs bench outscored Lakers 52-26, including 14 from Patty Mills, in winning the season 3-1.
Los Angeles led by as many as 15 points but became outscored 32-13 that started early in the fourth quarter and fell behind 121-114.
“We can not give our foot of gas” Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma said. “I think we did a bit in the fourth slow down. Defensively, we must of course do better.”
Kuzma finished 27 points and Lonzo Ball had 13 points and 11 assists for the Lakers.
DeRozan had 11 points in the fourth quarter and San Antonio was 4 to 7 from beyond the bow in his comeback.
The race made Aldridge a spectator, because Poeltl played all but one minute in fourth and Bertans played 10 minutes. Aldridge did not seem to mind, cheated actively from the bench and joined the injured Gasol in greeting Poeltl and Bertans with a smile and high-fief after leaving the game at the last minute.
“That group played well, so we left them out there and they were wonderful,” said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.
The Spurs opened the fourth quarter in an 18-6 race and reached 108-107 with 7 : 43 left. Mills denounced the run with an arrangement after striking James near Spur’s bench that led his teammates to surround and celebrate with him on the sidelines.
“I think it was the key to tonight’s victory,” Mills said team spirit. “It’s probably the first game and first win that everyone felt it was fun, including the fans. Everyone was emotionally involved (more) than any game this season. “
