NEW DELHI: Delhi government plans to conduct a vaccination campaign in its schools in January to eliminate measles and control crimes.

The measles rubella (MR) vaccination campaign will be conducted within a period of three to four weeks from January 16, 2019.

“All children aged nine to less than 15 years will receive an additional dose of MRI vaccine, regardless of previous vaccination status or history of measles / rubella-like disease,” the government says in a letter to their schools.

During the MRI campaign, the departments of Health and Education collaborate so that students and teachers from all state schools participate actively in the program.

“This will include information for officers, principals, teachers and students of health care department experts. Vaccination will be conducted at the schools during the first two weeks and later in society through the session,” said the letter.

The school heads have been invited to assign teachers to organize and conduct immunization sessions at school and to coordinate with healthcare professionals to conduct vaccination visits during school hours.

“Make sure the students come to school after breakfast on the day of vaccination. If necessary, the times of Mid Day Meal can be adjusted accordingly.” Make sure that the teachers check the left thumbs of all vaccinated children, “the letter continues.
