Three officials have refused to follow Congress requests to testify to the administration’s call, to list the long-lived struggle with the House Democrats ready and willing to take their multi-frontier investigations to court.
The house monitoring committee had asked to hear from senior white house advisor Stephen Miller on immigration, former security officer Carl Kline on security clearance and Justice Minister’s deputy lawyer John Gore to add a citizenship issue to the US census.
Connolly, who is in the Supervisory Committee, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer at the “Situation Room”. “We will resist, and if a daycare is issued and you are told that you have to testify, we will return it.”
“And We will use all the power of our mission to make sure it is backed up – whether it is a contemptible quote, if it goes to court and to have that case enforced, if it is a fine, if is possible to imprison, “added the Virginia Democrat. “We will go to the highest level to enforce the constitutional role of the state legislature”.
Connolly called the officials ‘excuses for not arising “an assault on the legislative branch” and “the state constitutional framework of our government,” warning that the legislative branch would become “a pale shadow of what it was intended to be” about the officials’ refusal should stand.
Connolly said his committee had hoped to learn what Miller “has in his head” in view of his growing commitment In the administration’s immigration policy, he calls him Trump’s “Immigrant Wife” in light of the Department of Homeland Security’s latest leadership changes and “zero tolerance” -policy that resulted in family separations.
“We want to hear from him, what is your thinking, what have you advised the president and where do you think you will take us as a country with such political and personal change?” He added.
