College football game, winner and loser in week 12: It's a good time to be Notre Dame

High school football is a volcano. It is dormant now, but eventually the pressure builds up and all the molten rock that has been forced from the earth’s physics must find somewhere to go because there is no mass barrier. The result is violent and devastating.

During 12 weeks the 2018 season has been predominantly chalk save for Ohio State routinely pull an okie doke. While it made the sport a bit less interesting, it is about getting to rest in the next two weeks. Many top 10 / top 15 teams with playoff jumps will meet each other and either things will sort out or chaos will prevail.

Somebody in all the mess is Notre Dame, who, due to the fact she does not need to attend a conference, plays another game this season: at the USC, which has been implanted for several weeks now. Win, with either a point or 50, and the Irish can lean back and watch all other teams playing weight to try out another victory in the first week of December. For this reason, Notre Dame is in the most enviable position in college football. With that in mind, let’s take a look at this week’s winner &#821

1; and loser – from a busy Saturday.

Winner

Notre Dame: Every time Notre Dame is put in an opportunity to be challenged it passes. Sometimes it’s not always beautiful (see: Pitt, 10/13/18), but it was certainly the 36-3 downfall in Syracuse in the Yankee Stadium. Fighting Irish’s defense is what we thought it was, but you have to hand it to the offensive staff to handle a bit of a rotating door at quarterback at various points during the season (for both health and performance). Notre Dame was an average of 6.25 meters per game on Saturday, and despite some problems with Red Zone had a lasting day. #TeamChaos lover will look forward to Notre Dame’s trip to the USC next week, but excluding some serious buttresses, the Irish should be good.

The Big Ten East: Ohio State may be the worst poor team in the country . Buckeyes, even at home, dominated Michigan, maybe not good enough this time to win a win over Wolverines next week. The game still has something going for it. It has timeless rivals that will surely be ranked in the top 10 with the East Division title on the line. Map of Ohio State is playing better, there’s not much more you can ask here.

UCF: Cincinnati’s defense was the elite who came to Saturday’s game and it could have been a major issue for UCF. But dear readers, it was not. The knights have something that no amount of coaching can prepare for: speed. When you are in a hurry, you have recipients who can come behind the coverage. And when you have a quarterback like McKenzie Milton who can drop dimes to those recipients, there is no defense that can stop it. And that’s what you got with UCF’s 38-13 win. It was not even close. And credit to the defender’s defensive front, which was long on the field – more than 37 minutes – and still kept his own. Is UCF a playoff caliber team? They are at least in the conversation for the first two outside. This is an improvement from last year.

Citadel: Look, Citadel would not hit Alabama, okay? Not even if it was bound with Team No. 1 in the nation 10-10 in half (Alabama continued to win easily 50-17). But it’s funny if an over-matched team goes full gloves-off against a juggernaut. To play the triple option and release some quality #gamecontrol is the only way that Citadel would have had a snowball chance against Crimson Tide. But if you are going to play the king, you have at least some fun in the process. Mintra on social media while the times were good? Well, that’s just a bonus. Do you, Bulldogs, and do not let anyone stop you.

Loser

West Virginia: The mountain climbers are still in the Big 12 Championship Game Hunt. They could beat Oklahoma next week and feel good . Let the Oklahoma State come from behind in a 45-41 loss need not track anything … however … it was a gut-punch Saturday. Along with West Virginia’s loss, Texas was 24-10 victory over Iowa State, which, if mountaineers had won, would have locked them into the Big 12 title with a week to save. Can West Virginia stand out of an emotional loss for Oklahoma? Sure, but it has not hit Sooners since joining Big 12.

USC: Things have gone from bad to worse for coach Clay Helton. A 34-27 loss for the UCLA falls trojans to 5-6 with Notre Dame threatening next week. A loss would obviously remove the USC from dishonesty just one season after going to Cotton Bowl. And in that friend there is a need to discuss Helton’s hot seat. The USC has not been bad during Helton – far from it . Most programs would kill for Cotton Bowls and Rose Bowls. But it is also impossible to ignore how fast it has been unraveled and the concrete evidence is that the Trojans went a resounding 0-against California schools in Pac-12. It will not be good with locals.

Tennessee: The volunteers have been in the wrong end of some sort “Twilight Zone” revenge tour for ex-buses. First, Butch Jones, now an offensive analyst in Alabama, got cigar after Alabama’s victory in Knoxville in October. Then, on Saturday, Missouri hung 50 points on Tennessee. Tigers offensive coordinator? Former Vol’s coach Derek Dooley, of course. Colorado’s 30-7 loss for Utah – sixth in a row – exacerbates the clearly strained relationship between MacIntyre and the program, both from administrative and fan-based views.

Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre: Colorado’s 30-7 loss for Utah The University basically gave a non-comment in the light of rumors about Macinty’s future and the people in the stands are measured. So now it’s probably not time for MacIntyre to pull out “I could have left for three good places” cards. Not when you’re on the verge of your fifth losing season in six years. Yes, Colorado is in a better place than when MacIntyre arrived but settled.

Best of the rest

Pitt: The pants managed ACC Coastal with a 34-13 win at Wake Forest, and set up a conference championship game against Clemson. Can Pitt live up to her reputation as one of college’s top spoilers again? We will see, but in the meanwhile we will end up with Pat Narduzzi’s team to overcome a rough start of the season to win five of their last six.

Kansas Runs Back Pooka Williams: It’s hard to continue to defeat Oklahoma’s defense, because at week 12 it’s what it’s, which is bad. The Sooners win despite this. So instead let’s focus on Williams rushing for 252 yards and two points at a giant 16.8 meter per pop in a 55-40 loss. It’s literally historically good . And bad defense or not, this is hard to stop:

Wisconsin Runs Back Jonathan Taylor: Sophomore had a career high 321 yards plus three touchdowns in a 47-44 Triple overtime win over Purdue. Wisconsin’s season has been disappointing given its high expectations, but sometimes it’s nice to get a reminder that Taylor is still banging when he has the cliff in his hand.

Michigan State, Nebraska and the Concept of a Higher Power: Sometimes things seem unintentional not as they are. Yes, the Nebraska-Michigan state ended in a 9-6 rock match because the big ten in November are a blast of players and coaches who seem to be indoors. But it is somewhat serendipitous if all 15 of the game’s points are scored by field goals when it was the first time the two teams had met since the passage of their respective kickers, Mike Sadler and Sam Foltz.

South Florida: Remember the time when the bulls were undamaged and ranked in the top 25? Good times. The USF has since lost four in a row and will be pleased to play UCF to end the season. The advanced analysis never thought much about this, and now the record is going on.

Ole Miss Broad Receiver DaMarkus Lodge: Yes, I’m taking “Absurd Untitled Catch in College Football” for 1000, Alex.

This ref: Utah-Colorado was played in the snow – or, as people inside it would call it, “soccer weather”. Although this is a grossly incorrect interpretation of the phrase, it may still be fun to do things in the snow. Without this game, the officer had nothing to do with throwing snowballs. No one at all.

Rutgers quarterback Artur Sitkowski: The Scarlet Knights do not need to say that things are bad and goodness knows that Sitkowski is not only guilty of its 1-10 entries. But this may be the most incredible interception I’ve seen in all my days.
