LONDON – Hundreds of protesters have appeared in central London and blocked the capital in the capital to demand that the government take climate change seriously.

A group called “Extinction Uprising” encouraged sit-ins on the bridges on Saturday as part of a coordinated action period across the country.

Metropolitan police said that emergency vehicles were prevented from coming over London because of the “blockade” of five bridges. The power said it had asked all protesters to gather in Westminster Bridge where officers could facilitate legal protest.

Around two dozen people were arrested on Monday after protesters blocked traffic and glued to gates outside the business, energy and industry strategy department.
