For some reason that we still do not know, Google, at the time, decided to make the Chrome search bar for Android a not too useful component , that only showed the web address in question, accompanied by a menu of options from which to access the different browser settings. This ended up being translated into criticism by users, delete useful shortcuts as the button to travel to the home page of the browser.
But since human error is wrong, and rectifying is wise, Google seems to have a small change of plans for your browser, as they point out from XDA-Developers , the ‘Home’ button in Google Chrome could soon return to the navigation bar.
Apparently, the latest version released yesterday in the channel Canary of Google Chrome for Android , incorporates a new experimental feature in the menu flags called force-enable-home-page-button . When activated, the button to go to home of the browser will reappear in the upper left , just next to the search bar.
As seen in the line image, by enabling the option mentioned in the experimental variant of the browser for Android , and then restart the app, will appear the precious button to go directly to the web configured as home page . Meanwhile, in the stable edition of Chrome for Android, this button is not available.
We do not know if carrying this functionality to the stable branch of the browser, it falls within the plans of the deep renovation that Google is doing in Chrome , but it seems quite likely to see that it has been incorporated in the form of a feature flag . Probably, later this option will make the leap to the Beta version of the browser, to finally land on the Chrome edition most used by Android users.
