BEIJING, JANUARY 11 (Xinhua) – China’s Chang & e-4 probe took panoramic images of the moon surface after it successfully made the first ever soft land on the other side of the moon.
Friday’s National Space Administration (CNSA) released 360-degree panoramic images taken by a camera installed on top of the lander.
The images were sent back via the relay satellite Queqiao, which was working around the second Lagrangian point on the soil system, about 455,000 km from the earth, where it can see both the earth and the moon’s longest side.
Researchers have made a preliminary analysis of the terrain and landform around the probe according to the panorama.
Chang & e-4-probe moved down to the Von Karman crater in the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the morning of January 3, and the moon-runner Yutu-2 drove on the lunar surface late that night.
Then the rover took a “nap” as the solar radiation raised the temperature of the moon surface to over 1
00 degrees Celsius. It started again on Thursday.
Landers, rover and relay satellite are in good condition, CNSA says.
