“As afraid and suspected, Governor CBI has been deprived of his accusation because he pursued corrupt Spl director Rakesh Asthana, who was foisted on CBI by PMO, although he was investigated by CBI himself in corruption cases. Totally illegal. Will be challenged , he wrote on Twitter.

At one level, what is happening in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is a “peat war”, a struggle of ego between two individuals at the helm. But the uncertain development that involves The CBI Director and its Special Director reflect a much deeper disease – a great deal at the heart of the prime investigating agency. The CBI registered a first information report against its own Special Director is extraordinary. The most worrying aspect of the ongoing crisis with Director Alok Verma and expert director Rakesh Asthana is that only one of them will be proven right; however, it is the body that will be displayed in one bad light.

Office of Verma, Asthana sought

Mr. Verma and Mr. Asthana office searched for orders by interim CBI director Mr. Nageshwar Rao, a CBI official said on condition that anonymity.

CBI’s chief Alok Verma is sent to service, M. Nageshwar Rao takes interim action

In a dramatic turnaround to the ongoing infighting between the prime investigator’s highest brass, the Department of Personnel and Education issued a Order late Tuesday, Joint Director M. Nageshwar Rao asks to charge the fee as interim CBI Director.

Confirming the order, a senior government official said both the CBI Director Alok Kumar Verma and his other commander Rakesh Asthana have been told to go on vacation.

CBI names its number 2 Rakesh Asthana in Mutorfall

The Central Investigation Bureau has appointed its second officer Rakesh Asthana accused of bribery together with another bailiff and two private individuals.

The accused in FIR (13A / 2018) is Asthana, deputy superintendent of police Devender Kumar, Dubai-based investment bank Manoj Prasad and his brother Somesh Prashad. More than € 3 crore in bribes was paid by the complainant to get relief in a case against meat exporter Moin Qureshi and others, the agency said.

CBI’s latest move is another indication of the escalating peat war between top brackets in the top office: CBI Director Alok Verma and Asthana.

Before this complaint was filed, Asthana filed a complaint against the CBI Director before the Central Monitoring Commission (CVC) and accused him of interfering with a corruption case with family members to RJD leader Lalu Prasad. Thereafter, the Office rejected Asthanas allegations against the director, saying that the Special Director himself was under threat in half a dozen cases and tried to scare officials who investigated his role. The CBI boss has learned to have written to CVC on October 18 and 19 about FIR registered against Asthana.
