Cat owners who feed pets a vegan diet can break the law, warned RSPCA tonight.
One of six pet suppliers now offers vegetarian vegetarian food to animals, as the owners include a new mania for herbal meals

But RSPCA warned that cats fed exclusively vegan food could become “seriously ill” and could mean landowners violates animal welfare laws.
Animal charity said cats need meat to survive, but dogs, like omnivores, may survive on a balanced vegetarian diet.
An RSPCA spokeswoman told the telegraph: “According to the Animal Welfare Act, the law requires an owner to take reasonable steps to ensure that all pet needs are met.
” This includes a healthy diet and providing appropriate living conditions, ability to behave normally, suitable company and protection against pain, suffering, injury and disease.
