Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau said after training today that swingman Jimmy Butler would miss the night’s home game against Utah Jazz ( 8 ET, NBA League Pass ). The team and Butler said the absence was due to “general tenderness and prudence”, but Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic report otherwise.
According to Charania and Krawczynski, Butler chose to sit outside tonight ] and this could lead to an extended absence from the arrangement. Here’s more from Krawczynski:
Per ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski Butler has also expressed interest in accompanying the team on his journey to meet Golden State Warriors on Friday ( 10:30 ET, ESPN ). Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers remain among the teams interested in commerce for Butler, but it is a belief that Wojnarowski writes that Thibodeau is not ready to seriously negotiate a trade.
Thibodeau discussed with Butler and the team’s medical staff his absence for Wednesday’s game. Butler has said that he plans to play against warriors on Friday night, telling sources of ESPN.
Butler and his representative continue to express frustration in what they think is Minnesota’s inactivity to honor his trade inquiry, and they have been pushing the owner Glen Taylor to speed up the process, sources said.
ESPN’s Rachel Nichols confirmed the Wojnarowski report
Butler’s name has been in trade rumors since the start of the training camp. After tonight’s match vs Utah, the Wolves have a five-way road trip forward and Thibodeau would not say that Butler would be on the next trip.
Thibodeau said that Butler’s absence tonight is not related to any imminent business
