Elon Musks Drilling Company reached a new milestone in the week: it ended to dig its first tunnel in LA. Musk sent a video of the breakthrough to its Twitter account, indicating that the machine reaches the end point, which it calls the Leary Station.
The video shows a crowd that collects at the end point and sees when the machine breaks through. In October, the Boring Company Twitter account sent a picture of the station which ArsTechnica notes was named for an employee of SpaceX / Boring Company recently left.
The 2-mile test tunnel began last year, and earlier this month Musk released an hour- lapse video of its walk along its length, saying that the tunnel is still expected to open to the public on December 10th. The company has some major plans for the area: it plans to dig further tunnels and recently received approval to build a prototype tunnel that would allow the company to transport a car from the garage to the tunnel.
