Borderlands 3, Other titles drawn from Epic Games Store over prices

As a result of its unmatched generous sales, some game publishers draw the titles from Epic Games Store including Gearbox Software's expected Borderlands 3 . It seems that the digital distributor may have completely neglected to notify publishers of the final sales prices where their games would be sold before the start of the Epic Mega Sale, a clear attempt to compete with Steam's famous sales. In addition to attempting to compete with Steam on award-winning sales, Epic Games Store as a whole is a direct response to Steam's long-standing digital distribution market dominance. However, Epic has made it clear that they do not want to copy Steam's business model, instead they choose to throw out potential large versions directly under their feet by making expensive deals with publishers in exchange for exclusivity on the Epic Games Store on PC. And the Epic Store has made huge, largely negative waves in the PC gaming community in recent months with just that, with remarkable examples being the exclusive launch of Borderlands 3 and the company's recent acquisition of Psyonix, the award-winning developer of Rocket League . 9659002] However, it seems that Epic has now shifted its weight to not only going to the toes of PC players, but also the publishers whose exclusivity is about it depends on survival. A PC Gamer report notes that 2K Games Borderlands 3 Paradox Interactive s Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 and Klei Entertainment’s Oxygen not included ] has been withdrawn from Epic Games Store by their respective publishers. It seems that the reason for these games is sudden disappearance from the store hall due to a dispute between the publishers and Epic over price changes brought about by the Epic Mega Sale, which takes $ 10 of any game that costs or exceeds $ 15 above the sales prices set by publishers.

Bizarrely it is likely that this pricing snafu could have been easy to avoid if Epic simply communicated better with publishers, as it is another $ 10 on the Epic side of things that resulted in temporary mass migration. Epic has since changed the way pricing appears on the Epic Mega Sales main page, even though they kept their promised $ 10 bet on prizes priced at $ 15 or higher and Borderlands publisher 2K Games has said,

” We work near Epic and have temporarily removed Borderlands 3 from their store front. We look forward to the game coming back to Epic Games Store soon. Games purchased under their Mega Sale will be honored at that price. “

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford recently went on record as his company believes Epic Games Store is the best way forward for PC games after a long period of stagnation and publisher dissatisfaction during Steam. However, it is doubtful that the future he foresaw that Epic was undermining the competition so steeply with Borderlands 3 that publisher 2K had to step in to prevent more revenue being lost before the game can release.
