We all seek that peaceful life, empty of stress. Sometimes the way to doing so; is by figuring out the habits that drain our energy and try our best to rid ourselves of them.

What follows are habits that I find to be so draining, that leave us at times with no energy and sometimes even depressed. The key is not only to figure them out, but to also find a way to quit them.

1- Social Media

Honestly, it is the most draining habit of all, not only is it highly addictive, but also depressing at times. No matter how many infleuncers tell you that what you see on Social Media is hardly the reality, you still find it in you to doubt yourself, your achievements and your capabilities. You start comparing yourself to people, and your achievements to others’. When the questions of ‘where am I going with my life?’ and ‘Have I done enough so far?’ start to pile up, it is when you feel drained the most.

Try to limit the usage of social media or at least, understand that the only thing you should be at your age, is happy with a sense of fulfillment for any small or big achievement that you have done.

2- Negative people

It’s okay to have your doubts about energies and vibes, and how they affect yours. But think about it, how many negative people around you have previously affected you with their negativity? Pessimistic people often influence your thoughts with theirs, as you might unwillingly believe in their ‘rational’ thinking. When in reality, it is just their negativity that is keeping them from thinking big and dreaming bigger.

Try to surround yourself with people who give positive energy, and if you get negative vibes from a certain person, try to affect them with your optimism and not the other way around.

3- Overthinking and Sensitivity

I have a belief that over-thinkers are the ones who suffer the most, because not a single word can pass by them easily without them over thinking it. Being sensitive in this world is very hectic, and so you need to learn the art of not giving a care, and start to limit your overthinking and sensitivity.

You can start by practicing mediation or yoga, whenever you feel like overthinking world issues before even your own. Always repeat to yourself that it is ‘all in your head’ because it really is, just in your head.

4- Irregular sleeping patterns

Irregular sleeping times and hours can affect your mental health, try to sleep and wake up at reasonable hours, eventually your body will get used to these sleeping patterns.

5- A bad diet

Just like sleeping irregularly can affect your mental health, a bad habit can affect your physical well-being and mood, eating healthy and maintaining a good diet can help fight that. For ways to stay healthy during stressful times, or work, click here.
