Manzana just released one new update for your software platform for iPhone Y iPad . Is about iOS 11.3.1 and, according to the first details of it, includes a patch to solve the problems detected in the screen of repaired iPhones by third parties. We are therefore facing a minor update to solve the “error” and, at the same time, mitigate the impact created by the recent public denunciation of some popular mobile repair shops.
After the recent publication of iOS 11.3 a little over a month ago, with some news of interest, a new maintenance version in form of iOS 11.3.1 . A OTA update which, according to the data offered by the company itself, serves to correct software failures detected in the previous version. However, the main function of this patch is to eliminate the screen problems experienced by the iPhone – especially in the case of iPhone 8 – which are repaired by unofficial repair shops.
During the last weeks, various problems have transcended in units of certain iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus repaired by third parties. Repair workshops cataloged by Apple as unofficial who have seen how the screen replacement carried out to its customers has generated an important problem after updating them with iOS 11.3.
The problem with the screen was simply that the touch panel stopped working. Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that the source of the failure was in the operating system’s own version, since errors began to reproduce after the Installation of iOS 11.3 . An affirmation that was verified with diverse tests in video carried out by some of the affected factories.
Today, Apple seems to have corrected the origin of the failure with an update in the form of iOS 11.3.1 . In this way, users will no longer have to face the problem if they repair the screen of their iPhones in a workshop that does not have the certification of Apple and, in turn, offer unofficial spare parts -and cheaper- to their customers.
Given this detail, Apple has wanted to take advantage of the situation to recommend its customers to opt for official components of the brand to avoid inconveniences such as lower image quality when opting for a third-party screen.
Despite Apple’s explanations, it remains in the air whether this patch -iOS 11.3.1- really faces a system error or an apple company strategy to hinder the work of alternative repair shops, as a rule general with prices cheaper than those offered by Apple’s technical service.
Also, the update of iOS 11.3.1 does not record if there are changes for the iPhone X . The same tests that showed that iOS 11.3 affected the repaired screens of the iPhone 8 they showed that something similar happened with the OLED display of iPhone X . Moreover, the evidence showed that the screen replacement , even by an original panel previously mounted on another iPhone X, affected the sensitivity of the screen, but in the same way 3D facial recognition , Face ID .
