KILLED, Texas (KWTX) An astronaut with four space mission missions under his belt landed at a primary school in Killeen on Tuesday.
As part of the space week, former Thomas Astronaut, Don Thomas, stayed at West Ward Elementary Tuesday afternoon to talk with fourth and fifth degrees about his career.
During his four shuttle missions, he spent a total of 44 days in space and circled the earth 692 times.
His mission is now to inspire students to work hard for their goals.
“Whatever you learn, I always encourage them to do their best. I tell them it takes time. I dreamed about entering the space when I was 6 but the first time I launched space I was 39. It was 33 years later, so it took me a long time to get there and a lot of hard work between but it was so worth it in the end, Thomas says.
Thomas also gave awards to students who go beyond showing kindness and respect for others .
