OnePlus is a remarkable company. It’s only five years. The first version, OnePlus One, sold 1.5 million mobile phones in 12 months. The latest OnePlus 6 , earlier this year, it only took 22 days to sell 1 million phones.

OnePlus 6T With All Its Glory OnePlus

It’s a nice and smooth organization. Look no further than its answer when it learned that Apple had planned an event for the exact date and almost exactly the time of its own event &#821

1; and in the same city of New York, no less.

Instead of cowering or sulking, moving the event forward one day, participants offered extra hotel nights or rearranged flights and continued.

I’ve tested OnePlus 6T in just a week and it’s a very cool phone. There’s a lot to talk about, from the bigger screen, less chop, bigger battery and more. Here I just talk o My camera and I will leave it to my Forbes colleague Ewan Spence to masterfully review the phone over time.

Only one thing I can not resist a word on the fingerprint sensor.

Fingerprint Sensor

] Although the OnePlus 6T has a capable face-recognition camera hidden in its decades “teardrop” screen, it also has a fingerprint sensor. So, what do you say, do not all phones have it?

Yes, but they’re almost everyone on the back of the phone, my least favorite place to find the sensor: what do you do when the phone is lying in front of you and does not want to get it?

If you miss the convenience of a fingerprint sensor facing the front but do not want to give up the entire screen experience, OnePlus has the answer.

The fingerprint sensor is on the front, but there is no annoying notch below the screen: this sensor is actually buried in the display itself!

Cool, huh?

Fingerprint Sensor In Function ] David Phelan

When the screen is locked, a fingerprint sensor is displayed in the correct position, about an inch from above. Resta finger or thumbs on it and it responds with an intense but cute animation appears, colorful and exciting, even. Then, in much less than a second, you are taken directly to the home screen.

Here’s a tip: Think about how you actually choose your phone to use it when you add your fingerprint. I made the mistake of typing my thumb by placing it perfectly vertically.

When I reach the handset, my thumb tends to be at an angle more towards horizontal. When I registered it again from that angle it worked much faster.

Huawei has a similar sensor, a little more central on the screen. It seems to work a little faster but there is not much in it.

Camera

There are two rear cameras on this phone, just like on OnePlus 6. In fact, the sensors are identical to last time, it’s a 16MP camera with f / 1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization. Pixel size, for those who like these details, is 1.12 m. Then there is the secondary camera that is a 20MP sensor with the same wide opening and slightly smaller pixels: 1.0m.

But OnePlus says there’s much more to this camera than the last one. An improved algorithm means that the sensor behaves differently. It has been professionally tuned, the company describes it, boasting shooting the things we usually photograph, such as faces, text and night scenes. Oh, and food. Yes, people still take pictures of food. Ah, yes.

So how does the camera work?

That’s good. Very similar to the last model but with gentle but noticeable differences. It is still effective in a variety of circumstances and light levels. But the benefits are that it’s better now on night shots and portraits.

I’ve tested Portrait mode just with a subject, my dog and oh boy, she would not really sit still. Nevertheless, the results were quite impressive and managed to capture her best page (she says) and weakened the background. Of course, it’s primarily designed for people, not pocher, but it’s pretty good.

In the lower light it is quite decent, but like most camera monitors, the more light turns the result – it’s the difference between just useful and hello-look at this.

The Nightscape mode is similar to the long exposure Huawei had on P20 Pro earlier this year, which is good at picking out details, the human eye can only look weak in the dark. It’s effective and even surprising how dark scenes are shining, but it can also make the pictures a little weird, or at least very different from what you saw the scene.

Cameras are so important on smartphones today, probably one of the very first features customers think about before they buy. How many cameras? How many pixels? What can they do?

The double snails here work together well and very quickly. Because they are not different focal lengths, as is the case with phones such as the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and iPhone XS, there is, for example, no optical zoom equivalent.

This means, in turn, that you’re limited to digital zoom, which is never a good thing – and it goes without saying here.

HDR is good and this is a light camera to use with enough features to keep you running but not leaving you. And its speed is really a factor in its success.

It’s a little better than the camera on OnePlus 6. But something is all it takes to be like OnePlus 6 was a very good camera phone.
