At the recent Google I / O 2018, the people of Mountain View, California announced the update of their augmented reality platform, a version 1.2 that is already available and that brings with it some very interesting news . As is logical, many of us wonder what would be compatible phones with the augmented reality of Google, and today has updated the list of devices, with members of the main companies in the market.
ARCore makes use of different APIs (Application Programming Interface) to create augmented reality experiences, or what is the same, transforms our smartphone into an even more intelligent device able to understand the world around it and interact with it, extending our mobile experience beyond the screen.
As we said, Google has just updated the list of compatible terminals, and although the list is not too broad in relation to the entire fleet of devices available, little by little it is growing in members, something that can get a good boost to this technology.
These are the “lucky” devices, which we order by brand:
We have a total 34 compatible phones with the augmented reality of Google and it is surprising to see that neither Google nor Motorola are the companies with the most smartphones on the list, but rather the Koreans of Samsung those who are most supportive of this technology, with a total of 11 terminals compatible s, more than we would get by adding Google and Motorola devices.
It is surprising to see also the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S (since they use a very personalized interface), while companies like LG do not seem to support this technology, with only two phones compatible with ARCore.
As a reminder, to say that ARCore uses the camera of our smartphone to integrate the real world with the virtual world, and for this purpose motion tracking , or what is the same, makes our smartphone understand our position in the real world.
This movement tracking is accompanied by environmental recognition , so that our smartphone can understand the size, location and characteristics of the objects that surround it, and for that it also helps with a light detection system .
ARCore is definitely a technology that offers a lot of potential and that for now is little exploited, hopefully when the smartphone park is updated to Android Oreo 8.0, and thanks Projec Treble, more and more mobile compatible with reality increased from Google.
