With iOS 12
did some fundamentally important changes and contained some great secret features . But it was also half-baked with some ridiculous flaws as transferred to iOS 12.0.1 (which since allowed them ). Now we have iOS 12.1, the first major upgrade, and it brings new features and some issues.
Who is it for?
iOS 12.1 runs on all compatible devices iOS 11. This means iPhone 5S or later, iPad mini 2 or later, and the 6th generation iPod touch or later, but it has some precautions (more below).
Compatible devices will automatically be prompted to upgrade. But if that does not happen, you can trigger it by going to Settings & gt; General & gt; Software Update . Apple iOS 12.1.1 beta tester (more about this at the end) you must unroll your device for iOS 12.1 to be displayed.
As a compressed update, iOS 12.1 comes in up to 500 MB. I say “up to” because different devices get different updates, so it’s significantly less on older iPhones and iPads.
The Deal Breakers
Jailbreakers, yes all four of you, iOS 12.1 will break away your jailbreaks. With jailbreaking programs falling further behind, you may want to wait months for your jailbreaking software to choose from. Be warned.
How about iOS 12.1 early problems? Certainly there are some concerns.
The largest comes from a security perspective where a Spanish hacker has shown a critical error that can prevent lock protection. This has to be resolved and I expect the release of iOS 12.1.1 to be accelerated to combat it.
