We hope everyone had a good thanksgiving and found some way to keep warm because the sun did not match the cold air associated with the Arctic high that sat over us on Thursday. In fact, Mount Pocono’s 16 ° and Allentowns 29 ° set new record for the coldest high temperatures on November 22, while Trenton’s 30 ° tied the previous record high. No matter how you shake it, Thursday is ranked as one of the coldest Thanksgiving days we have ever experienced in this area.
Many areas also saw record high low temperatures overnight. Allentown set a new record low temperature of 14 ° and hit the previous record at 16 ° in 2000. The reading set a new record low temperature of 15 ° which hit the previous 18 ° post in Reading, established in 1984. Mount Pocono set new record low temperature on 4 ° who hit the previous record of 6 ° which ended in 2000. Finally, Trenton set a new record low temperature of 14 ° which hit the previous 16 ° record that set in 1880.
High pressure will be over the top of the region for Friday leads to another dry day with plenty of sunshine, but the temperature is again cold. High is hardly expected to come across freezing, but the one part of good news for all customers who will be out for a long period of time is that the winds are getting brighter. Wind cooling should not be much different from the actual air temperature.
The high pressure will move out to the coast for the weekend, leading to a return to a southern wind flow and thus warmer and closer to seasonal temperatures. Highs Saturday is expected to return to the mid-40s and since Sunday we look back to the mild mid-50s. The warmer weather will come with a price but as a low pressure area and the hot front seems to affect the region Saturday afternoon and night mostly rain. This storm system should depart for Sunday for dry conditions and return to a little sunshine.
Dry weather will not be long, but another low pressure system seems to affect the area on Monday and again causes rain. Another shot of cooler air will follow this storm system, centered on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it should not be as bitter as the shot that has come to round out this week.
Have a good and safe Black Friday, stay warm and find some great deals in the shops!
