An officially licensed Warhammer 40K animated series is in the works

Games Workshop is making an animated series based on the popular Warhammer 40,000 franchise, the company announced Monday. Called Angels of Death it is the first officially licensed series of its kind. Helming the project is the team behind the popular Helsreach series of fan-made cartoons and a live-action film released in October. "We're bringing the ugly darkness of the far future to life like never before, "Games Workshop wrote on its official community blog. "Get ready for epic battle, heroic sacrifice, loads of explosions, brutal close-combat chainsword duels, and some pathos-laden dialogue that will fill your belly with fire and stretch your heart strings to breaking." Angels of Death will follow a group of red-armored Blood Angels Space Marines. The script will be penned by one of the many authors who contribute to Games Workshop's Black Library series of genre fiction books. Also involved is Richard Boylan, a cinematic designer at Electronic Arts and the man behind the live-action short film Guardsman which has more than 1.3 million views on YouTube.
