Apollo was the NASA program launched in 1961 and got on the moon.

The first four flights tested the equipment for the Apollo program and six of the other seven flights managed to land on the moon.

The first manned mission to the Moon was Apollo 8, circling on Christ’s Moms Eve 1968, but did not land.

The crew of Apollo 9 spent ten days circling the earth and completed the first manned flight of the moon module – part of the Apollo rocket which later landed Neil Armstrong on the moon.

The Apollo 11 mission was the first to land on the moon of July 20, 1969.

The capsule landed on the Pacific Ocean, which carries commissioner Neil Armstrong and pilots Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.

Armstrong and Aldrin went on the moon while Collins remained in circulation around the moon.

When Armstrong became the first person to go on the moon, he said, “It’s a small step for the (a) man, a huge leap for humanity.”

Apollo 12 later landed that year on November 19 at Ocean of Storms , writes NASA.

Apollo 13 would be the third mission to land on the moon, but just under 56 hours in flight an oxygen-tank explosion forced the crew to cancel the moon landing and move into the Aquarius moon module to return back to earth.

Apollo 15 was the ninth manned lunar mission in the Apollo Space Program, and then considered the most successful manned space flight until that moment due to its long length and greater emphasis on scientific exploration than was possible in previous missions.

The last Apollo moon landing occurred in 1972 after a total of 12 astronauts had touched the moon surface.
