Words around the techsphere is that AMD actually shows two high-end Ryzen 3000 series processors to OEMs right now. An upper part of the core chip 16 and a very clocked 12 core chip.

Jim is consistently right on the money in the past with his leaks and sources. Which lets us believe this is a legitimate leak. The talk about cores 16 and 12 is also very consistent with what we have seen from leaks and rumors in recent months, except what we have heard from various sources.

From what we have heard, the company places 16 cores as the fastest multi-threading processor, you will be able to buy on any regular desktop platform when it is started in the summer. While the 12 core chips, with significantly higher clock speeds, will be going to any rounder half-flagship. Provides better game performance than 16 cores thanks to the higher clocks while still packing a blow on productivity thanks to its 12 cores.

The entry level segment AMD is said to be ready for three new Ryzen 3 processors, with and without integrated graphics. All with 6 Zen 2 cores and 12 threads.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, 3600 and 3600G – 8 Cores @ Mid Range

In the middle segment we also have three brand new chips. All Ryzen Fives with 8 cores, with and without integrated graphics.

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 3700 – 12 Cores @ The New High End

Towards the higher end of the spectrum, we have two new 12 cores, 24 wire parts. These will combine both high clocks and high core numbers and should be fantastic allrounders.

AMD Ryzen 9 3850X, 3800X – 16 Cores @ The New Ultra High-End

There are some controversies about the expected nomenclature for 16 core chips, with some claiming to be called Ryzen 9, while others claim that they will keep the same Ryzen 7 moniker as their 12 core siblings. These will be AMD’s best range of rows, with the highest core number in the standard AM4-compatible Ryzen 3000 series.
