NEW YORK – Online Leader Amazon Inc. refused to comment on Tuesday for reports that it plans to share its new second headquarters between two sites.

The New York Times said the company is close to offering localization of the new facilities in Arlington, Virginia, Crystal City, Washington, DC, and the Long Island City section of New York City Queens.

Amazon already has more employees in these two areas than elsewhere except its

Wall Street Journal says Dallas is also an opportunity.

Company spokespersons reached by CBS News refused commenting on the stories.

] An update from Amazon is expected soon.

The journal said that the main reason for the two new facilities is to make it easier for Amazon to recruit enough talents.

The division of the 50,000 employees expected to respond to the new headquarters would also facilitate the pressure from housing and transport demand.

The newspapers mentioned named people who were familiar with the matter in their reports.

Times said the Amazon bosses met last month with the New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state had offered possibly hundreds of millions of dollars of subsidies. They also met with New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, said the newspaper.

“I renamed Amazon Cuomo if that’s what it needs,” said the Cuomo report.

Amazon’s decision to set up another headquarters resigned intense competition between the municipalities.

Some places attempted to stand out with stunts, but Amazon stressed that it would have dollars and cents incentives, such as tax breaks and contributions. It also wanted a city with more than 1

million people, an airport within 45 minutes drive, direct access to mass transit and space to expand.

The company received 238 proposals before reducing the list to 20 in January.

Amazon has said it could spend more than $ 5 billion on its new headquarters in the next 17 years, matching the size of its current home in Seattle, which has 33 buildings, 23 restaurants and 40,000 employees.

The company is not leaving Seattle and Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has said that the new headquarters will be “fully equivalent” to their current home.

Amazon already has 600,000 employees. It is expected to increase as it builds more warehouses around the country to hold on to online orders.

The company recently announced that it would pay all its employees at least $ 15 a hour, but employees at their second headquarters will be paid a lot more – Amazon says they will do on average more than $ 100,000 a year.
