Amazon Challenges FedEx, UPS With New Air Freight Hub

When the retail industry enters full equipment for the holiday, Amazon takes a central stage by announcing a new hub for its growing air freight fleet. The new freight hub is currently under construction at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport in Texas and is expected to begin early next year. This marks the first air hub that Amazon will be able to design from scratch with 50% of space reserved for future development. <p class = "canvas-atom canvas text Mb (1 .0em) Mb) – sm Mt (0.8em) – sm" type = "text" content = "Amazon's presence at Alliance is remarkable since FedEx & nbsp; Corporation (NYSE: FDX ) & nbsp; is currently the only commercial operator at Alliance Airport. Both FedEx and UPS have fought the stock market and fall by 28% and 18% respectively against the S & P 500 loss of 6.3% year on year. Morgan Stanley estimates that Amazone’s aviation increase will sip 2% of UPS revenue in 2018, and Amazon’s cost-effectiveness can account for 10% of FedEx and UPS revenues in 2025.

“The market lacks the risk Amazon Air poses,” explained Morgan Stanley capital analyst Ravi Shanker.

Amazon Air began its operations in 2015 and has reflected its parent company’s rapid growth. Amazon itself was founded in 1994 and became the world’s second trillion dollar company in market value in September this year.

“At present, investors focus on Amazon’s last milan efforts, but we believe that the challenge in Air is just as relevant,” said Shanker.

FedEx did not publish any concerns for Amazon during the quarterly talks on Tuesday.

“We have no worries,” said Deputy CEO Rajesh Subramaniam. “As far as you can see, our volumes in the domestic networks continue to grow, and we value Amazon as a good customer of us.”

FedEx management remains content as Amazon continues to outsource most of its freight services through companies like FedEx and UPS.

2018 has been an eventful year for Amazon . After much speculation, the company announced New York City and Arlington, Virginia will jointly function as HQ2. The company agreed to pay a minimum wage of $ 15 at its fulfillment centers, to just remove employee incentives and stock options. It also violated its hometown of Seattle when the City Council tried to decide on a head count tax on companies.

It is unthinkable that Amazon will affect the market’s importance to the aviation market. The International Air Transport Association reported that trade in e-commerce between Asia-Pacific and Europe grew by 66% between 2013 and 2015. E-commerce requires speed and air freight provides a strong platform for the industry’s future.
