Autodesk engineers and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory came up with a brand new interplanetary lander concept with AI design. The concept was able to explore remote moons like Enceladus and Europe. The design is slimmer compared to some of the usual in operation at the moment and it is also easier. Autodesk made the announcement about the new design in Las Vegas this week. The company revealed a spacecraft that looked like a woven metal spindle.
Autodesk says it has worked with NASA for the spacecraft development. Five engineers from Autodesk and five from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory formed a design team that collaborated efforts between the two organizations to create the new spacecraft. NASA has long been looking for better and more efficient ways to land on remote moons. The belief is that these moons can have sea under their crusts and can provide more insight into the existence of intelligent life in our solar system.

But it is more interesting that the new Autodesk lander was created by AI. The company used its own AI software. The software can develop hundreds of similar landlords in very short periods. The concept is known as generative design. The technology enables engineers to come with computer-generated concepts. AI has also been used to simulate conditions in space travel to determine which materials to use. The software can also explore different types of manufacturing methods based on the terms, including 3D printing and casting.
It took about a month to complete the construction. Landers come with three core sections. The first is the internal structure. Here are the instruments for studying deep space. This section is created with aluminum. The other part has the main body that offers structural support to the spacecraft and is made of aluminum. The third section has aluminum-based legs that allow movement in space.
