RALEIGH, NC (AP) – Legislation swiftly passed by North Carolina’s legislature this week would prepare a way for Republicans to stumble their nominees in a still undefined house in the US House that was scared of accusations of voting behavior.
“I think legislators are) worried that Mark Harris may be injured goods and they want the opportunity to have another Republican candidate,” said Carter Wrenn, a republican operator and consultant to former American late Jesse Helms and others in more than 40 years. “Then I read the teasers.”
If the State Electoral Board decides to vote for irregularities or other issues, the true outcome is in doubt and forcing an account, the legislation ̵
1; if allowed to enter into the law of the democratic government Roy Cooper – would require new primary elections in the 9th Congressional District, beyond a new general election.
This would allow the Republicans to see another look at Mark Harris, the Republic who led Democrat Dan McCready with 905 votes in unofficial Harris has not been awarded the winner and an investigation looks at missing absentee polls in the countryside Bladen County and whether or not Osejlade b Allonger illegally handled by collection groups could have changed.
The leaves were the only county among the eight in the 9th district where Harris won a majority of the post in absentee voting over McCready.
State Secretary David Lewis, a Harnett County Republic, said holding new primary elections in the 9th district sensibly because unusual absence voting results were also cut off in May last year. Harris won 96 percent of the submission meetings in Bladen County on his way to his narrow victory over GOP Rep. Robert Pittenger.
The Republican General Assembly “has a political motivation to do this. They realize that Mark Harris is a corrupt candidate and they try to find a way to replace him on the vote,” said US Rep. K. Butterfield, a North Carolina Democrat. “So this is a preventive strike, in my opinion, to remove Mark Harris and to get another nomination in there.”
New primaries would open the door to Pittenger or someone else to carry the Republican ban on McCready or any other democrat.
Pittenger said he wants to wait until the election board reveals its investigation findings at a hearing postponed Friday to January 11, meaning that the chair will be empty when Congress is gathered on January 3.
I have received calls from a number of friends in the last few days. My instincts are that I only think we should wait for this faithful hearing and let all the facts come out. Then I might consider it, he said in an interview Friday.
The President of the State Republican Party of Dallas Woodhouse said that if there should be a new primary election, the state GOP should be neutral but “Any candidate entering the primary, if there is one, will have a chance to do his fall. “
In an interview with WBTV on Friday, Harris ended briefly criticizing party members when asked whether he felt under attack by fellow Republicans. “Yes, I really do not know that the wagons around Harris are as I see Democrats turning the wagons around McCready,” Harris says.
Democrats can sue if primaries get started, Butterfield said. Pittenger and other Republicans do not contest Harris’s nomination, despite suspicions of absentee votes in Bladen County were occupied then, so now should be late, Butterfield said.
“It’s fundamentally unfair for a candidate who has grown and spent millions of dollars awaiting Mark Harris’s opponent, having to go through it again with another opponent,” said Butterfield. “Dan McCready should not have to face two different opponent. “
