Mookie Betts by Boston Red Sox celebrates under team game 2 win.

Red Sox handled business at Fenway Park and head to Los Angeles with a 2-0 lead over Dodgers. It’s not surprising: Boston has won 24 of the 36 World Series games since 1901.

Perhaps even more impressive is the team’s plus-50 crash differential in 16 total World Series games 2004, 2013, 2013 and 2018. Over it Time has Red Sox lighted or tied at the end of 72 out of 81 innings (89 percent) in World Series games at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com.

This playoff domination is just a continuation of the usual season where Boston made the franchise record for most winnings in a season (108) and became the fourth Red Sox team to win 100 or more matches in its 117-year history . That’s why a World Series winner would put 2018 Red Sox in the conversation as one of the most dominant MLB teams ever.

Since 1969, only 12 teams have recorded the best ball of the baseball and continued to win a championship the same year. Only seven out of the 12 won 108 or more matches during the regular season: 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates, 1927, 1961 and 1998 New York Yankees, 1970 Baltimore Orioles, 1975 Cincinnati Reds and 1986 New York Mets.

What’s surprising is how the Boston Red Sox series contains Mookie Betts (one of the top runners for AL MVP and only the other 30-30 players in franchise history) and JD Martinez (.330 average with 43 home runs and 130 RBI during their first season in Boston) but their total win over compensation from hitters during the regular season was only 27.3 in 2018, the lowest among the above-mentioned teams.

Most win over replacement of batter in regular season among teams who won 108 or more matches as well as a World Series championship that year.

Bostons pitching, on the other hand, is the highest among this 108-winners / World Series champs. Starter Chris Sale would have finished the regular season with the highest single-season strikeout rate ( 38.4 percent) of a MLB history launcher if he qualified for the ERA title – he dropped four innings cards. Rick Porcello and David Price went to sale to help create the fifth best start-up in the majors this season and closer to Craig Kimbrel anchored the ninth best bullpen. Overall Boston pots accounted for 29.4 wins over replacement six more than 1909 Pirates, who were second among this elite group.

Most win over regular pot season replacement teams who won 108 or more games plus a World Series championship in the same year.

The ultimate end of the year’s run of Red Sox could be a sweep of Dodgers, a result that is not beyond the scope. Team with a 2-0 series lead and home division continue to win the series 82 percent of the time and based on the two closest cats at the height of Boston, Porcello and Nathan Eovaldi, Red Sox has 22-percent chance of winning the two nearest games, eliminate dodgers and take a step closer to immortality.
