Apple may finally release an upgraded version of its AirPods in the first quarter of 2019 and can redefine the device by 2020. 9to5Mac quotes a new report from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who says that the demand for The units will grow dramatically over the next few years.
It was rumors all summer that upgraded AirPods would debut in the fall product launches, but they never came to the stage. If Kuo’s predictions are correct, the new models will have “Wireless Charging Support”, although it is not clear whether it means an upgraded case or earphones themselves. There are some other changes that also match previous rumors ̵
1; Kuo says the next model comes with upgraded Bluetooth specifications, upgraded hinges on the bag and some internal components becoming a bit more expensive. There have also been rumors that 2019 will also bring a new set of advanced AirPods that are waterproof and will give rise to noise shutdown.
In addition to the potential 2019 upgrade, Kuo notes that it will be a “brand new design” for the 2020 air, but does not go into detail, and he mentions nothing about the long-term AirPower rug. Kuo says that AirPods is Apple’s most popular accessory ever and predicts that the company will go from selling 16 million in 2017 to over 100 million in 2021.
