After the long wait that lasted almost three decades, Egypt has finally made it to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Everyone is so excited to finally witness our national football team competing against other big football teams in Russia. Many dedicated football fans have packed their bags and getting ready to travel all the way to Russia next month to cheer and support our national team.
Whether you are flying to the Russian land or not; here are five habits that Egyptians and Russian share:
We always hear this phrase from our parents “we can’t go visit them empty handed”, and that is true. We never go visit family or friends empty handed; and if we can’t find anything special to bring, we will at least bring some chocolate, drinks and any kind of snacks. Russians aren’t only strong believers in this concept, they consider it rude if a guest shows up empty handed.
We are known to be quite generous people. If we are having guests over, we always make sure to offer them anything and everything; from some endless cups of tea to dinner and desert. Russians are also the same, and it is considered rude if you decline all the food and drinks offered to you.
Some old habits don’t die! Some people still clap when the plane when it lands safely; so do Russians due to travel anxieties.
Amr Diab sang for it long time ago! We are a nation who wouldn’t say no for ice cream in December. Russians also will go for ice cream even when the temperature drops below zero.
So, what is the one thing you always ask other passengers specially in the underground metro? “Are you getting off the next station?” believe it or not, that exactly happens in Russia. Passengers tend to ask one another about their destination due to how crowded their means of transportation get, so they can make a place for you to get off.
