Police on Wednesday arrested a neighbor to an advertising manager found dead with his throat slashed in his upper West Side co-building last week.
Anya Johnston, 24, was accused of killing 70-year-old Susan Trott inside her apartment on West End Avenue near 95th Street on October 21, police said.
Police responded to Already home early the same day when her business partner called authorities because he had not heard her from several days.  Cops followed a trace of blood On the floor to the bedroom, where they found her body, the authorities said.
“I’m pleased to announce that a arrest has been made in the murder of Susan Trott,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea wrote on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.
One day after Trotts murder Shea told a press conference that the police had a person in charge of slaying held at a hospital for a psychological evaluation. He added that any response to the killing would be inside the tower at 71
0 West End Ave.
Police believe that Trott and Johnston had problems with each other earlier, but it is unclear what they are fighting about, police sources said to the Post.
Despite friends and neighbors, the Post told her that she was constantly harassed in the building for a number of reasons – including her habit of carrying birds on the sidewalks outside.
