2019 Chevy Silverado 1500: 3.0L I6 Duramax Turbodiesel
We get the first official look under the hood of a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 3.0L straight six Duramax turbodiesel engine . Chevrolet recently published an online configurator for the brand new 2019 Silverado, and these engine images and specifications are featured on its new Silverado page.
There is a lot going on with the new I6 diesel (code name LM2). Turbocharger, EGR and exhaust cleaning systems can be seen, as well as a small plastic engine guard that simply says “DIESEL”.
Chevrolet (or GM) has not officially released diesel engines, fuel economy or trailer specifications yet. Although we received an information leak that gave us an unofficial glimpse of what 3.0 L Duramax number in a GMC Sierra 1500 could be. In short, the engine was listed in 282 hp retailers and 450 lb-ft torque. Maximum towing was listed at 7,800 kg and the engine fuel economy showed at 28 MPG. You can see us discuss the leaked material in the video below.
GM is likely to fine-tune these specifications before the diesel engine is sold next year. Chevrolet has said that the Silverado 1500 diesel will be available for sale in 2019 for the 2019 model.
Chevy also releases photos of all engine options for the new Silverado.
